Suzanne & Bob in England

On March 2, 2005, Suzanne and Bob packed up and moved from Shoreline to Cambridge, England. Bob was offered a geophysics research job at the University of Cambridge, and it was too exciting an opportunity to pass up! It's a 4-year post, so we plan to be here at least that long. Browse on for snapshots of our life here. Note that the newest posts are at the top of the page, so if you want to see things in chronological order, scroll to the bottom and work your way up.

The Annex- Trumpington, Cambridgeshire

The Annex

This is the house we finally found after about a month of house-hunting. We've now been living here for a month. Looking for furnishings, we've had many weekends spent at "car boot" sales, which are sort of like open flea markets, in which folks will come to a parking lot ('car park'), and open up thier trunk ('boot') to sell things- a little like all the yard sales in town rolled into one parking lot. Kind of fun, but also a little tiring. Ebay (yes, they do have it in England too- take a look at www.ebay.co.uk) has also been a good source of furnishings. One of the main difficulties has been getting things home, because we've decided to try not to have to own a car here. More on that later.
